Community-Governed. Mission-Driven.

Idahome Academy is organized as an Idaho nonprofit and guided by a volunteer Board of Directors. The Board is responsible for governance, public accountability, and stewardship of the school’s mission. As a proposed public charter school, Idahome Academy is participating in Idaho’s charter-authorization process.

Our educational approach

Idahome Academy is designed around two connected frameworks. The Twelve Practices of Idahome Academic Excellence guide how teachers create accessible lessons, maintain relationships, assess learning, respond quickly and make improvements. The Idahome Six: Six Pillars of Independence connects rigorous academics to practical capability, character, independent judgment and lifelong learning. Our approach is teacher-led, asynchronous-first and supported by live instruction, Advisory, virtual daily labs Monday through Thursday and individualized help. Accelerate Education is the Board-identified intended K–12 core curriculum provider, subject to charter approval and a future contract; certified Idahome teachers will customize and adapt coursework, teach live, assess learning and intervene when needed.

The Twelve Practices of Idahome Academic Excellence: what they look like

Each practice is something families and reviewers should be able to see in action.

PRACTICE
WHAT THIS LOOKS LIKE
1. Engaged Teachers
Teachers teach live and through the online course, give feedback, reteach individually and reach out personally when a student needs help.
2. Strong Academic Curriculum & Resources
Courses are mapped to Idaho Content Standards and built on an intended core curriculum, with teacher-created enhancements reviewed for quality.
3. Cognitive Load Management
Weekly lessons are short, clear and easy to navigate, broken into manageable parts with clear goals, examples and checks for understanding.
4. Universal Design for Learning
Materials are accessible (for example captions, speech-to-text and text-to-speech), students have more than one way to participate and show learning, and appropriate accommodations are provided.
5. Data-Informed Instruction
Teachers review progress and assessment evidence—including K–5 reading screening—then intervene promptly and record the follow-up.
6. Student Ownership & Responsibility
Students set weekly goals, plan, monitor their own progress and reflect, taking on more responsibility in each grade.
7. SEL, Grit & Growth Mindset
Advisory and lesson routines teach persistence, self-management, decision-making and respectful interaction.
8. Community & Connection
Stable Advisory groups, small-group and peer activities, virtual daily lab access, optional clubs and student leadership help students belong.
9. Supportive Family & Home Environment
Learning Partners receive orientation, practical expectations and conferences, and home activities require no special resources; teachers—not families—lead instruction.
10. Clear Communication
Families get a published weekly plan, clear deadlines, progress notices and a reply or clear next step to every message within 24 counted weekday hours.
11. Flexibility Paired with Accountability
Flexible asynchronous work comes with expected progress, short required live sessions, fair makeup options and Friday asynchronous learning days.
12. Technology That Works
An accessible learning platform, privacy protection, help-desk support and, when available and authorized, a temporary school-owned connectivity loan keep learning running.

College, career and practical opportunities

Before opening, Idahome Academy intends to pursue NCAA Eligibility Center high-school review and review of appropriate core courses. The school also intends to seek Idaho Division of Career Technical Education approval for a proposed opening-year Business/Marketing cluster, with potential offerings in business, accounting, marketing and computer applications, subject to state approval and staffing. Microsoft Office Specialist certification-aligned opportunities may be developed as approvals, demand and resources allow. Specific NCAA courses, CTE pathways, certifications and any future physical CTE laboratory are not yet approved or guaranteed.

Identity and name

Idahome Academy is a proposed school of Idahome Academy, Inc., an independent Idaho nonprofit charter applicant. It is not affiliated with Idaho Home Learning Academy. The Board is reviewing naming clarity as part of its public-communication and governance responsibilities. No new operating name has been adopted.
